"Fascinated by stories about parallel worlds, the beginnings of Öxxö Xööx were centered upon the question of life in other words than ours.
The first concerts of Öxxö Xööx’s original line-up were interpreted by two « extraterrestrials ».
After a long time of questioning, of growing awareness, of huge empathy towards earthly pain in each and every cell, as it is suffered by the human, animal, vegetal being, and filled with a huge desire of expressing this life, emprisoned and mutilated, in the depths of being.
In a world where the mind’s blooming seemed unreachable, this project, above all, was a means to find a reason to live according to one’s inner truth.
It has been the purpose of several years of research, aiming to find a way to bring together many artistic fields through a singular vision of art.
We have invented our own language issued from intuition, then we codified it and gave it rules.
This language translates spontaneous emotions which generate sounds; the voice, as an instrument, takes on a true importance and all the emotion is released, at first, through the choice of sounds.
This language thus allows a totally unique vision of expression.
It stands as the opposite of what is taught by our world, a way to fight an oppressive way of thinking.
The sounds are elaborated so that they get a meaning, and hence is created a personal lexicon.
These words can come out of sheer intuition or have a link with existing languages.
The concept of the word Öxxö Xööx has several origins. It mixes the symbols of the Yin and Yang, the Ouroboros and the hexadecimal system (0110 = 6 ; 1001 = 9), the « X »s standing for the « 1 »s, which puts yet a bigger stress on the opposition with the « O ».
Each vowel has a « ¨ » sign, to render a specific accent to our language (for lack of a whole alphabet with new symbols).
Öxxö Xööx thus means the number 69, representing evolution, symbolising above all the desire to transform the 6 into a 9, to free the immaterial Yang (Light, Life, Love, the Sky, anything good) of the empire of the material Yin (the darkness, death, earth, the negative) within everything of this universe.
It represents, at the same time, the emprisonment of life in duality, the opposite forces of the universe, and the eternal « all over again » (the curse of reincarnation).
It also symbolizes the building and the desire to break the walls of this carnal and material prison.
It is the will to reconnect with The Great Spirit Of Life (the true God) within us while being profoundly anti-religious.
It is because we have carnal bodies that we are separated from one another and that we are fighting each other.
We are all demons coveting the others energy to survive.
This world is a place of constant war; even our cells are fighting each other.
It is because we are vampires, made of earth, that the sun burns our flesh.
Love and beauty shall save the spirits of this material universe.
Each and every creature has its own reason to live, deserving respect, protection, and love just for the sake of what it is.
As a reflection of a world that suffers and dies a little more each and every day, Öxxö Xööx’s music is dark and sad. At the same time, it is full of hope and of a fire that can sometimes burn.
This music has turned towards fighting, a benevolent and controled rage, which aims to free the emprisoned life.
The musical instruments that are used are both ancient and futuristic. It is avant-garde, experimental and flamboyant Doom metal, with grand organs, harpsichords, string ensembles and opera, with Metal and Electronic music lead by the voices of Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec, and Isarnos (Drums).
There is a strong bond between the music and the visuals.
On stage, we have costumes and sculptures with bright stones.
We try to dramatize our inner truths, and our true personalities, through a tribal and telluric visual to try to recreate the link between the earth and the celestial worlds.
Art is magic and Music is therapy for us and above all, a cure.
It is through the fact that only beauty can make the heart beat, that we have created our own method, which consists of escaping the muddy banks of the hell of flesh and soul, of the determinisms and the dull grey forces of predatorial thoughts that surround us in this time.
All of this has one purpose: to make our seed grow, to see it turn into a tree which roots will grow deeper and deeper into the earth, fire, and darkness, who’s branches will rise high above into the skies and the celestial worlds.
We believe there are many methods of elevation that are each individual.
There was a time when we rebeled against Light, it is about time we rebel against the Darkness.
